L’événement comique de l’année à Londres ! Le show annuel High On Laughter a lieu cette année au London Palladium au bénéfice de Turning Point Scotland (association caritative créée par la princesse Diana). Une distribution de rêve pour tout amateur d’humour anglophone : Jerry Lewis, légende du comique américain au coeur d’une affiche de comiques anglais parmi les plus talentueux du moment.

In August 2000, as part of the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, the first High On Laughter was performed at the 1000-seat Queen’s Hall. From America came cutting-edge comedian Zach Galifinakis, and George Wendt, who famously played "Norm" on Cheers. It was a beautiful beginning to an annual tradition.

In 2001, High On Laughter went up at the 3,000 seat Playhouse in Edinburgh with zany American Emo Philips, Channel 4’s Mark Thomas and the incomparable Johnny Vegas.

2002 promises to be even more spectacular. At London’s famed Palladium Theatre, comedy icon Jerry Lewis will head up a roster of the best talent from both the US and the UK, including Emo Philips, VH1’s Zach Galifinakis, Police Academy’s Bobcat Goldthwait and this year's Perrier Award Winner Daniel Kitson. The aim is to raise £10,000 for drug and alcohol charity Turning Point Scotland.

Opened in 1986 by Diana, Princess of Wales, Turning Point is Scotland’s most respected drug and alcohol charity with centers in Edinburgh, Glasgow and Aberdeen. Turning Point is a social care organisation providing high quality, locally focused support to individuals and their communities in the areas of drug and alcohol misuse, mental health and learning disabilities. Its particular expertise is in working with people who have complex needs and are facing multiple social challenges.

TPS prides itself on its intervention program, which breaks into the loop of crime, prostitution and drug use for the over 15,000 intravenous drug users in Glasgow alone. Turning Point operates in more than 100 locations across the country and offers help to many thousands of people each year.

Famed comedian, actor, writer and director whose rubber-faced characters have earned him a place in entertainment history as one of the great physical comics of all time. In the late1940s, Lewis teamed with Dean Martin and they became one of America’s best-known musical comedy duos. They appeared together on television, the nightclub stage and in 17 films together.Lewis's credits include the films Geisha Boy , Bellboy, the original Nutty Professor, and Martin Scorcese’s The King of Comedy.

He was nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize in 1977 and won the French Legion of Honor in 1984. This is first visit to London since 1997.
