John Shrapnel est né à Birmingham et a grandi à Manchester.

• Au théâtre

Il a fait partie du National Youth Theatre et a travaillé deux ans avec le Olivier’s National Theatre à l’Old Vic, interprétant : The Bacchae, Front Page, Twelth Night, Macbeth et The School For Scandal.

Ses travaux à la Royal Shakespeare Company comprennent : The Greeks, Maydays, The Archbishop’s Ceiling, Temptation, Measure For Measure, The Dybbuk, The Thebans et Hamlet.

Il a également joué dans : Timon of Athens, City Sugar, Julius Caesar, Three Sisters, Hedda Gabler, Hamlet, The Hothouse, et Julius Caesar de Shakespeare, m.e.s. Deborah Warner

John a récemment travaillé avec le Royal National Theatre pour South Pacific, mis en scène par Trevor Nunn.
